Baskets, screens, cartridges and cones manufactured to sample or to drawing. Where the original element or the housing dimensions and required mesh are provided, a replacement is manufactured to suit — the housing need not be of Flair manufacture. Elements are produced in wire mesh, perforated sheet, wedge wire and combinations of the three, in stainless and carbon steel, with free area calculated against the operating flow rate rather than replicated from the element being replaced.

Elements manufactured to sample or drawing

Elements are made to the sample supplied, to a drawing, or to housing dimensions provided by the customer. The housing need not be of Flair manufacture — send us the original element or its dimensions and we will manufacture a matching replacement.

Perforated sheet with mesh lining, with or without handle, manufactured to housing dimensions supplied.

Y & T Strainer Screens Standard & non-standard

Perforated, mesh lined or wedge wire, produced in both standard and non-standard sizes.

Conical & Temporary Strainer Cones To flange rating

Manufactured to specified flange rating and open area ratio.

Monel, hastelloy and other alloys are manufactured on request for specialised or corrosive duty. Material is selected against the process fluid, and free area is calculated against the operating flow rate rather than simply replicated from the element being replaced.

How to order a correct replacement

The most reliable route to a correct replacement is to despatch the original element to our works. It is measured, the mesh verified, and the quotation raised against the physical component rather than a description of it. Where this is impractical, forward photographs including a dimensional reference together with the housing dimensions.

Can a replacement element be made without the original housing being of Flair manufacture?

Yes. The housing need not be of our manufacture. Send us the original element, or the housing dimensions and required mesh, and we will manufacture a replacement to suit.

What is the most reliable way to order a correct replacement?

Despatch the original element to our works. It is measured, the mesh verified, and the quotation raised against the physical component rather than a description of it. Where sending the element is impractical, forward photographs including a dimensional reference together with the housing dimensions.

Is the free area of the replacement matched to the old element or recalculated?

Recalculated. Free area is sized against your operating flow rate rather than simply replicated from the element being replaced, so the replacement performs correctly even where the original was undersized or oversized for the duty.

What element types are manufactured?

Basket and bucket elements, Y and T strainer screens, conical and temporary strainer cones, wedge wire elements, disc edge elements for self-cleaning and backwash filters, and bag restrainer baskets. See the scope of manufacture above for the full range.

What materials are elements manufactured in?

SS 304, SS 304L, SS 316, SS 316L and carbon steel as standard, with monel, hastelloy or other alloys available on request for specialised or corrosive duty.

Are spares such as gaskets and gauges also supplied?

Yes. Gaskets, O rings, cover bolts, davit assemblies, differential pressure gauges and drain valves are all supplied alongside replacement elements.

What is the lead time for a replacement element?

Lead time depends on the element type, material and quantity ordered. Send us your requirement and we will confirm both standard and expedited timelines against it.

Can elements be manufactured to a drawing rather than a sample?

Yes. Elements are manufactured to sample, to drawing, or to housing dimensions supplied by the customer, whichever is available. A drawing with the mesh or perforation specification is sufficient where no sample can be sent.
